How You Can Get Involved With Boston University’s Chapter of PRSSA

Missed our first meeting of the semester last night? Don’t worry, there are plenty of ways to get involved with Boston University’s Chapter of PRSSA. Aside from our weekly meetings Thursdays at 5 p.m. in COM 106, where we bring in local professionals to speak about their experiences, PRSSA offers a variety of opportunities for hands-on experience.

PR Advanced Conference Committee
PR Advanced is a professional conference that takes place on campus in February. This is our 7th year hosting the regional conference, and this year our theme is PR Advanced: Embrace the Possibilities. The conference this year will focus on how there is not one single way to a successful PR career. Because this is such a large event to put on, we need all the help we can get! Anyone with any range of experience is welcome to join the committee. As a member of the PR Advanced committee, you will help reach out to speakers, participants, and sponsors, maintain social media platforms and the website, and/or work on creative promotional materials.

The committee will hold its first meeting on Monday, September 24, at 7 p.m. Location TBD. If you are interested in joining or have any further questions, email Alex Hyken at

Unleashed Public Relations
Unleashed Public Relations is Boston University PRSSA’s student-run agency. Working with Unleashed is very much like having an internship; students are placed on an account to work with one specific client for the semester. To join, students must complete an application, and choose the account that is most interesting to them, and are then placed on a team. Each account has an Account Director and Account Executives. The job of the students is to constantly communicate with their client to complete campaigns and projects that will meet the desired public relations goals.

If you are interested in joining, email Taylor Bathel at, or come to the first meeting on Monday, September 17, at 7 p.m. in CAS room 116.

Digital Media Team
The Digital Media Team is the backbone of our Chapter of PRSSA’s online presence. We are always looking for writers to contribute to our weekly blog posts on But that’s not all the committee has to offer; whether you are interested in writing, videography, social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and foursquare and analyzing their data, graphic design, or research, the Digital Media Team has plenty of opportunities to get involved.

If you have any further questions, email Christina Serrano at To learn more about the individual positions come to the first meeting on Sunday, September 16, at 8pm in GSU room 310.
