Top 4 Reasons You Should Go To PRAdvanced
This post was written by Kate Scott, a member of the PRAdvanced planning committee.
As this year’s PRAdvanced conference approaches, we’re getting more excited to participate in the single best opportunity BU PRSSA provides for its students throughout the year.
In anticipation for February 25th, here are the top four reasons to attend PR Advanced: Unleash Our Generation.
- Keynote Speaker, Bonin Bough. Bonin was just hired by Kraft as their Vice President of Global Digital and Consumer Engagement (formerly Senior Global Director of Digital and Social Media for Pepsi, Co.) Sounds like quite the title doesn’t it? Well yes, but he is much more than a title. He is also a fantastic speaker and very knowledgeable on strategy and practice of social media. And let’s face it, that’s the future of our industry so why not get some tips from the best in the business. Check out this video of him speaking on the importance of connections and not just impressions with social media– and follow him on Twitter at @BoughB.
- Professionals. At this conference more than ever, we are bringing in professionals from all over the industry to meet with students. Between our breakout sessions on startups, new media and the Speed Networking events, participants will have the opportunity to talk and network with almost 30 different people about everything from PR to Gen Y and everything in between.
- Lunch. I don’t know about you, but I’m all about food. But it’s not just the food that will make you want to hit lunch. Dean of Students Kenn Elmore will be our lunchtime speaker who will give us a little insight on Gen Y and how they are shaping our world. In addition, lunch is a great time to meet with the other participants and get to know them better. Networking with your peers is just as important these days and you wouldn’t want to miss out on that opportunity over a tasty lunch.
- Career Fair. I may be a bit biased because I am the Career Fair coordinator, but in my opinion, this portion of Advanced is one of the most important parts of the conference. Why not use what you’ve learned throughout the day to network with some of the most important PR and HR professionals in the industry? With representatives from Burson, Edelman, and many other firms, the Career Fair is the perfect place to meet your future internship contact. That is how I approached the Career Fair last year and it helped me land my first internship!
There are definitely many other reasons to attend PR Advanced: Unleash Our Generation but these are just a few that I see most important.
Don’t forget to officially register for this year’s conference. See you all February 25th!
