Join BUPRSSA for the 3rd Annual Social Media Challenge this Thursday, October 27 from 5-7 p.m. in COM 101.
In this year’s challenge, participants will compete to create a social media marketing campaign for client Bon Me, a food truck that stations itself on campus weekday nights, as well as in other parts of the city at other times. The participating groups will begin with zero budget, a poster board, and markers and will have to come up with social media plans to spread the word about the food truck.
At the end of the challenge, each group will have the opportunity to present their campaign to the judges:
- Professor Dustin Supa
- Joselin Mane
- Alison Fong
- Patrick Lynch
Alison Fong and Patrick Lynch own the truck, which serves Vietnamese-inspired delicacies from its curbside locations. Fong, a graduate of Boston University who studied at the Culinary Institute of America, is the chef. Lynch, on the other hand, is a former investment banker who once worked on Wall St. and is now part-owner of the food truck.
The other two judges are more closely linked to the communication field. Supa, assistant professor of Communication, is in his first semester teaching at BU. Mane is a new and social media strategist and founder of BostonTweetUp.com.
Using social media is becoming more and more relevant in communications fields, so be sure to sign up for the Social Media Challenge and show what you can do with Twitter, Facebook, other online resources, and a little creativity.
