In the spirit of embracing the new social media revolution engulfing the world of public relations, Boston University’s PRSSA hosted a Social Media Competition showcase the BU students’ knowledge about using social media tools for business.
The Social Media Competition offered participants a chance to design a campaign for Pavement, a local Boston-based coffee shop. The cafe was looking for new avenues to help them promote their grand opening. Using only social media participants competed to design a realistic, viral, and creative campaign for Pavement.
Each team was given one hour to prepare a presentation. In that hour, they had to design the campaign using only a poster board, a couple of markers, and their imagination.
Our expert judges were fama PR’s Zach Servideo and Jeff Benanto, freelance social media marketer Gradon Tripp, social media journalist Jeff Cutler and solo PR and marketing practitioner Bobbie Carlton. Pavement’s representative manager Jake Robinson also judged.
After each presentation, judges provided written feeback and suggestions for each group. Even though every team was creative and thoughtful, there had to be a winner. Congratulations to Team 4!
The winning team team consisted of Jenny Hogrefe, Lauren Weil, Abe Seth, Stephanie Florez, Chelsea Alexander and Allison Shannon received gift cards to Pavement.
